Final Cut

Final Cut

I PRESENT TO YOU..........ADDICTED!

Hope you enjoy!

Production and Distrubutor

As all films have the production and distributor company in the opening credits, we decided to use Candi Studios and Smith Inc Productions, which is meant to rival Hollywood's big names, such as Fox and Warner Bro's. lol jk

This is important to show who helped make and produce the film, and the distributor is who sells the film.

Intertextuality in our film

Like most thriller films, we used a lot of our clips thanks to Blockbuster Hollywood films. For example, bits that make you standout, attire, and so and so.

In our film we used knives, which is in almost every thriller film. The knife is a trademark representing death, the knife as a weapon, not as a piece of kitchen cutlery.

The dictionary was copied from Se7en, which I guess can be symbolic for a psycho too.

Close Ups

For our film, we wanted a lot of close ups. Using Se7en we done a good job, but another inspiration we had was Dexter, a intro to a show where only close ups were used, this aswel giving a psychotic effect.

Good close ups of the main character shaving himself is used, we see all of his facial hair, and even the blood slowly dripping from his neck to the kitchen sink. Everything so close makes everything seem out of place, which we tried immitating.

Titles

With our film done, all we needed to do was adding the title. Using Se7en for inspiration, we decided to have the titles inbetwen clips and use white writing on black screen. Just like Se7en, we picked a similar font, a scratchy sort of font, which went well with our film. At first we used special effects to make the title jump out, but that was heavily slated by our teachers, for being childish.

The effect the writinig gives works well, because it gives a creepy effect, and it looks pencilled in and scary.

Another thing we done was to play with the positioning of the names, so we had names in different corners, hoping the audience would notice, and think that's quite weird, which is what we want, to set a weird atsmosphere.

We also had a lot of fun with the names, obviously me, Laura and Iriesha are real people, and making names up became fun for me, check out the name of our director, Romeo Valentine LOL

Sound

With the sound, we wanted a creepy bass line with a screechy sound effect over the top, we found an un-copyrighted instrumental of a bass line, thats dark slow and eerie, when added to our film I felt it fiited well.  Unlike the creators of Se7en which is what we wanted ours to be similar to. So we decided to leave the extra screechy sounds and we just put a rumbling sound over the title of 'addicted' this was not that obvious but it did add a little bit more to the title, emphasising the importance.

We used Soundtrack pro to find sounds to add on, and we found, with the help of Bernard, a sound that would add more edge and excitement to our movie intro. The beat went from low to fast paced, which is what was needed, according to our teachers.

Also, we put emphasised the word 'kill' to match the movie, and have a phychotic feel to the film.
